An accreditation card is your access pass, which allows you to move within the event area in zones marked on your card. Accreditation cards are issued to all teams, referees, FIBA officials, members of the organising committee, volunteers, service providers, and media representatives. The accreditation card permits access only to the zones necessary for your duties, which are indicated on the card using letters and numbers. Your accreditation card will be checked every time you enter the arena and in several areas inside the venue. You must wear the card visibly around your neck at all times and show it when requested.
The card is personal and non-transferable. If you lose your card, notify your team leader and the accreditation office immediately. Do NOT photograph or share your accreditation card on social media.

Work shifts are arranged by each team. Some volunteers will begin their duties as early as August 20, while others will start on the first game day, August 27. Most volunteers will have pre-scheduled shifts, but for some teams, individual shifts are not pre-assigned.
Please arrive on time for your shift and be ready to begin your tasks. If you become ill, inform your team leader or the volunteer manager as soon as possible.
Your team leader assigns tasks and knows what needs to be done and in what order. Flexibility is possible – always discuss scheduling or changes directly with your team leader.
If you're interested in taking on additional tasks outside your own team’s duties, contact the event office.
The volunteer lounge is located on the lowest level (Level 0) of Nokia Arena, near the practice hall. There, you’ll find coffee, tea, and light snacks available all day, every day. The lounge is a place to rest your feet and connect with other volunteers during your breaks. Lockers are available for storing your personal belongings. Locker keys can be borrowed one day at a time from the event office, and availability is limited. You’re encouraged to bring your own coffee or tea mug to reduce disposable cup use.
Hot meals for volunteers and the organising committee, and other stakeholders are served at Juvenes’ Ratamo restaurant in the TAKK building, right next to the Arena. It’s a short 80-metre walk from the arena’s ground level (Level 0). Hot meals are provided only during shifts that last more than 6 hours. Two meal times per day: Lunch and dinner. You’ll receive a meal voucher from your team leader.
Every meal includes:
- Salad bar
- Several homemade food options
- Always a vegetarian option
- Bread and spread
- Beverage (water or juice)
All special dietary needs will be accommodated.
The safety of all participants is a top priority.
Everyone working at the event shares responsibility for safety. You’re not expected to be a hero, but by staying alert and following instructions, you may help prevent accidents or even save lives. All volunteers are covered by the OP Pohjola Doublecover insurance during their shifts.
In case of an accident involving you or another volunteer:
- Contact first aid immediately
- Inform your team leader or the tournament office
Please note: the insurance does not cover damages caused by negligence or intentional actions. You will receive detailed safety instructions and important phone numbers closer to the start of the tournament.
Zero tolerance for harassment! The event follows a Safer Space Policy that applies to all volunteers and staff.
Key principles:
Spectator Code of Conduct
These rules apply to the audience, volunteers, and everyone involved in the event, and will be translated into all participating countries’ languages and included in the Spectator Guide.
A small, designated seating area is reserved in the arena for volunteers to watch games when their duties allow.
Please note:
- Seating is limited and may have restricted views
- We cannot guarantee a spot for any specific game or seat
The volunteer lounge will have TV broadcasts of the games, and Fan Zone and the Market Square Event Area offer additional viewing options with large screens, activities, and food stalls.
As volunteers, we’re at work – during free time, we’re fans!
Sports are full of emotion – and big tournaments bring even more passion.
But our #1 task is to provide the best possible environment for all teams to perform at their best. Let’s protect the teams’ focus and peace.
A few important guidelines:
What you can share
You're welcome to talk about your volunteer experience on social media or in conversations. Feel free to share: Why you joined the volunteer team, what kind of tasks you’ve done, how much fun you’re having as a volunteer, etc. For inquiries about event arrangements, refer people to your team leader, who can forward them to the appropriate person in the organising committee.
Themes:
Social Media and Other Communications
Safety Instructions
Volunteer Insurance
Tips and Benefits
Certificate of Employment
Please remember these basic guidelines:
Do not post pictures of your accreditation badge on social media – it is your personal access pass.
Do not take or ask for selfies with players while on duty.
Do not ask players for autographs on shirts or anything else during your shift.
Do not share behind-the-scenes events or details on social media or elsewhere.
Taking photos in locker room corridors is strictly prohibited in all circumstances.
Only members of the media and communications team, with special permission, may take and publish behind-the-scenes material.
You are welcome to share your own volunteering experience on social media or when asked about it. Talk about why you're involved, what tasks you've done, how much fun we’ve had, what you’ve learned, and why volunteering is worth it!
We also create articles and stories about our volunteers – you might be asked for an interview. You are free to decline if you wish.
Questions about event arrangements should be directed to the full-time event organisation – primarily your own team leader, who will pass questions on to the appropriate person.
Crisis communication is handled by the event organisation. Do not comment to the media or public during a crisis! Redirect all inquiries.
Police and emergency services will communicate their own matters. Teams will handle communications related to their own players, and FIBA will handle international basketball matters.
Everyone’s safety is important! We follow all current safety regulations and recommendations. As the responsible organiser, the Basketball Finland has ensured that safety measures comply with the law. The event safety team is primarily responsible for safety, but everyone must contribute to a successful and safe experience.
Each person working at the event is also partially responsible for safety.
You’re not expected to be a hero – just stay alert and follow the given instructions. If you notice a safety concern, report it immediately to your team leader or event security. Even if unsure, better to report it.
For emergency situations, contact the security operations centre – your team leader will provide the phone number just before the event. You can also get contact details and help from the Event Office (Nokia Arena, ground floor, next to the volunteer lounge).
While working at your post or moving around the venue, pay attention to:
People in the audience behaving aggressively or threateningly
Intoxicated individuals causing danger to themselves or others
People who seem unwell or injured
Unattended items (e.g., a lone backpack in a restroom)
If you notice any of the above or anything else suspicious, notify security or the security operations centre.
Threatening Person
Alert security immediately.
If interacting with the person:
Know your escape options
Gain time by staying calm and listening
Avoid arguments
Don’t provoke or get provoked
Stay composed

If unconscious, ask bystanders
Guide mobile patients to the first aid station

Security will take over and guide firefighters
Do not leave the scene without permission. You may have vital information.
If you or another volunteer has an accident, contact first aid and notify your team leader or the Event Office immediately. Volunteers are covered by the OP Pohjola Doublecover insurance during their shifts. The Event Office will contact the Pohjola service if needed. Note: The insurance does not cover damage caused by carelessness or intentional acts.
All volunteers receive a Nysse travel card, meals and snacks, and many other perks. Outside the event, there's a lot to see and do in Tampere!
We recommend downloading the free Tampere.Finland app. It includes event calendars, sightseeing tips, outdoor spots, and public transport routes and schedules. The app also features the Rakas Tampere Pass, which gives great discounts and benefits at city centre shops and services.
You will receive a formal certificate for your volunteer work. You’ll be invited to a volunteer thank-you party. Details about the date, location, and registration will be announced later.
