Pursuant to Section 38 of the Competition Rules of the Finnish Basketball Association (hereinafter referred to as the ”Association”), every player, coach, and team official must sign this commitment in order to be eligible to participate under Section 56 of the Competition Rules and to be registered on the team roster.
- This commitment shall remain valid from the date of signature until 30 June 2026.
- I participate in competitive activities at my own risk. For this purpose, I have ensured that I have adequate insurance coverage and/or, if I am a professional athlete, the insurance required by law (Act on Athletes’ Accidents and Pension Security 276/2009) covering injury, disability, and pension security.
- I release the Association and its elected representatives, officials, and employees from liability, to the extent permitted by law, for any injury or disability arising from participation in competitions organized by the Association.
- I commit to upholding good sportsmanship and the principles of fair play and to striving for sporting success and victory in all games and game situations.
- I commit not to participate in or influence, either personally or through a representative, any betting activity related to national team matches or top-level basketball competitions governed by the Competition Rules.
- I commit not to agree, attempt to agree, arrange, or attempt to arrange the outcome of any basketball game, whether concerning the result at the end of regular playing time or overtime, or any other statistical aspect of a game, and I shall not participate in such activities in any manner.
- I commit to informing the Association, my club, and/or any other party designated by the Association if I am contacted regarding the fixing or arranging of a game result or any statistical aspect of a game as described above.
- I refrain from cooperating with companies operating in the same industry as Veikkaus Oy in any manner where my personal actions in the marketing of gambling services would be directed at Finland and/or Finnish consumers in violation of the Lotteries Act (1047/2001).
- I refrain from publishing insider information on social media, blogs, or comparable platforms, or from discussing such information until it has been officially released.
- I shall not use snus, alcohol, or drugs on the playing court or in its immediate vicinity in connection with my own games or training events, nor shall I participate in such events under their influence.
- At my own game events, I commit to covering all commercial and political messages visible in my tattoos or equipment.
- Upon request, I commit to participating in league-related media and marketing events, as well as post-game press conferences, and to following any instructions given to me during such events.
- I commit not to seek compensation from the Association for the use of photographs or video footage featuring me when such material is used by the Association in its communications or in the marketing of the sport or league.
- My club may provide the Association with my full contract, including attachments and payroll documentation, when the Association is carrying out its supervisory duties under the law (Act on Athletes’ Accidents and Pension Security 276/2009) or league licensing regulations to ensure compliance with such requirements.
- I commit to completing the Finnish Center for Integrity in Sports (SUEK) online courses Clean Victory (Puhtaasti Paras) and Fair Victory (Reilusti Paras) so that they are valid before my first game of the competition year, and to providing certificates of completion to my club and the Association.
- I commit to complying with all rules and regulations in force from time to time issued by the Association, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and the Finnish Center for Integrity in Sports (SUEK), and to abiding by their decisions.
- I commit to recognizing the jurisdiction of the Sports Legal Protection Board and to complying with its decisions.
- I commit to complying with the Association’s Competition Rules, Disciplinary Rules, and other regulations in force from time to time, as well as any rules, provisions, and instructions issued pursuant to them, and to abiding by the decisions of the bodies referred to in the Disciplinary Rules, subject to the appeal rights set out therein.
- I will familiarize myself with the Finnish Basketball Association’s Privacy Notice regarding the processing of personal data, which explains in more detail what personal data the Association processes and how and for what purposes my personal data is processed. The notice also provides further information on, for example, the publication of disciplinary decisions, results services and statistics, as well as the processing and disclosure of data to third parties.
